Aug 21, 2021 · Shuttle shift issue on Ford 455 Backhoe. Last week I had a problem with the shuttle shift. Moving from forward to neutral did nothing, it stayed in forward. Moving to reverse put the machine in neutral, so I had no reverse. However, after shutting the engine down and restarting everything worked fine and has continued to work. One thing i can say is the machine is awful light. its easy to pull yourself into the trench as the machine dosent have much weight to hold it in place and the hydraulics are far more powerful than the weight of the machine.
