Its increased survivability means that the game is more forgiving of mistakes, and lasting longer in boss fights means you'll have an easier time learning theie moves. You don't need to be close-range in Calamity melee (though getting up close does tend to do a ton of damage).The class gets a lot better in hardmode and post moonlord. You still generate stealth while moving, albeit slower, and later on you get accessories that boost it's rate quite significantly.
